Man Utd injury news is the main talking point after the 4-1 defeat at Como, with United now seven games without a win and Michael Carrick waiting on several players. According to The Standard, which has gone through the squad player by player, a few could be back for Sunday’s home game against Bournemouth, while others are out for weeks.
Man Utd injury news: who could return against Bournemouth?
The Standard reports that Lisandro Martinez is nursing a thigh knock and could return on Sunday 25 October against Bournemouth at Old Trafford. Martinez did not travel for the Como game, as we covered in our Como team news report. The Standard also says Ayden Heaven is out with an illness and is another possible return on 25 October.
Mainoo, Shaw and Rashford return dates
In other Man Utd injury news, Kobbie Mainoo is out for “10 days or so”, according to Carrick, which would make Saturday 31 October at Chelsea the earliest realistic return, per The Standard. Luke Shaw is expected to be out for longer than Mainoo, with no date given. Marcus Rashford has a hip issue and The Standard says his return is unknown.
Man Utd injury news: the longer absences
Patrick Dorgu has a hamstring injury and is expected to miss “a number of weeks”, which points to November. Benjamin Sesko has a shin flare-up with no return date, and Manuel Ugarte is out with a ligament injury picked up at the World Cup and is not expected back before spring or summer 2027, The Standard says.
Carrick spoke about his own position after the Como loss, which we covered in our report on his future, and you can read Bruno Fernandes’ and Carrick’s reaction too. Our December fixtures and TV changes piece covers what comes later in the season.
