Our Como v Man Utd team news starts with a growing injury list. Manchester United travel to Como for their Champions League game on Wednesday with a suspended Leny Yoro and a run of six matches without a win. Michael Carrick gave his team news on Tuesday evening, and it was, in his words, “a bit of a mixed bag”.
Como v Man Utd team news from Carrick
Lisandro Martinez, who was taken off with a thigh complaint in the draw at Leeds, is not travelling. “Licha’s is not that bad, but he is not with us,” Carrick said, and we have more on the Martinez injury. Kobbie Mainoo is out for “another 10 days or so” and Luke Shaw “a little bit longer than that”. Ayden Heaven is ill, and Marcus Rashford is “still feeling a hip issue that we’re trying to overcome”, with United saying earlier that he is managing an injury issue.
ESPN, citing PA, reports that eight players missed training at Carrington on Tuesday: Martinez, Rashford, Heaven, Shaw, Mainoo, Benjamin Sesko, Patrick Dorgu and Manuel Ugarte. Sesko, Dorgu and Ugarte are injured. Matthijs de Ligt is back in training after back surgery but has not yet played, and Yoro serves his ban after the red card against Atletico Madrid. ESPN adds that Shaw and Mainoo have both missed the last two matches, which shapes the Man Utd team news, and that Rashford was an unused substitute at Elland Road before United said he was managing an injury issue.
Could Amass feature in the Man Utd team news?
With so many absentees, Carrick was asked whether Harry Amass could feature. “Yeah, for sure, that is why he’s with us, he’s right in contention. At some point players need an opportunity,” he said, according to the Manchester Evening News live blog. The same live blog says academy full-backs Harry Amass and Jaydan Kamason trained with the main group on Tuesday, along with young centre-back Dan Armer, which is useful context for the Man Utd team news given how thin United are at the back.

The pressure before Como
The Manchester Evening News describes United’s start as their worst in the Premier League for 40 years, and ESPN counts six games without a win across all competitions, after the Atletico defeat and the 1-1 draw at Elland Road. United began their Champions League campaign with a 4-0 win over Sabah, so a result in northern Italy would be a welcome change.
The game kicks off at 17:45 UK time on Wednesday 21 October. For Como v Man Utd team news, the final squad will be confirmed closer to kick-off.
