Manchester United are among the Premier League clubs reported to be interested in Borussia Dortmund midfielder Felix Nmecha, but any move looks more likely next summer than in January. TEAMtalk reported the interest on 19 October, and the BBC’s gossip column picked it up on Tuesday.
What TEAMtalk reports
According to TEAMtalk, United have kept up a persistent interest in the Germany international and are understood to have made contact as they assess options ahead of the winter window. Liverpool are also considering him, and the report says he has emerged as a potential alternative if their pursuit of Bournemouth’s Alex Scott comes to nothing. Chelsea and Tottenham are named as other admirers, while Newcastle, Manchester City and Arsenal have looked at him over the past year. The BBC puts Nmecha’s valuation at around ÂŁ84m.
Felix Nmecha, 26, was born in Hamburg and spent more than a decade in Manchester City’s academy before moving on to Wolfsburg and then Dortmund. TEAMtalk says he extended his contract at Dortmund until June 2030 earlier this year and remains central under head coach Niko Kovac.

Dortmund’s stance on Felix Nmecha
Dortmund appear in no hurry. TEAMtalk’s sources say there is no release clause that can be triggered in January, and that a clause of €80m (ÂŁ67.4m) becomes available only from the summer of 2027. Its report puts the club’s valuation higher, with figures of €90-100m (up to ÂŁ84.2m) mentioned. Sporting director Ole Book has previously played down a departure, calling a sale highly unlikely, and TEAMtalk says a realistic move is more likely at the end of the season than in the coming weeks.
What it means for United
The Felix Nmecha link is press-sourced interest, not a bid or a club-confirmed target, and neither United nor Dortmund has commented in the sources seen. For United supporters, the useful points are that a January deal looks difficult, that Liverpool are also in the picture, and that the price being quoted is high. United have been linked with the Germany midfielder before, as our June report on the Dortmund star showed. The Felix Nmecha story is worth watching into the summer of 2027.
