Mbeumo put Michael Carrick’s side ahead in the 73rd minute and Tottenham were then reduced to 10 men when Rodrigo Bentancur was sent off. United could not see out the lead, with Solanke heading the equaliser in the second minute of added time.
Man Utd 1-1 Spurs: Mbeumo breaks through
The opening half finished goalless, with Tottenham creating several chances. Senne Lammens saved from Solanke early on after Lucas Bergvall won possession near the United penalty area.
Bergvall and Mohammed Kudus also had opportunities, while United’s best move of the half brought an Amad Diallo shot that Antonin Kinsky saved. Youri Tielemans then intervened as Conor Gallagher threatened, before Lammens helped keep Spurs out.
However, United grew into the contest after the interval. Bruno Fernandes was denied a shooting opportunity after a Mbeumo flick, and Kobbie Mainoo made an important block when Savio had a chance at the far post.
The breakthrough came through Mbeumo, long before the Solanke equaliser. Matheus Cunha found him inside the box and the forward turned to send a low left-footed shot past Kinsky.
Red card does not settle it before the Solanke equaliser
Bentancur received a straight red card in the 78th minute following an incident with Luke Shaw. Because of that, United were a goal and a player up heading into the final stages.

Mbeumo had another opportunity in the 86th minute, but Kinsky stopped him adding a second. However, the one-goal advantage remained vulnerable.
Two minutes into stoppage time, Sandro Tonali delivered into the area and Solanke glanced a header into the far corner. Lammens was beaten and Tottenham had their equaliser.
United left with a point after the Solanke equaliser
The final score was Man Utd 1-1 Spurs. Overall, Mbeumo’s finish had put United in a strong position, but the late concession meant Carrick’s team had to settle for a draw.
In addition, the result also showed the value of Tottenham’s chances before the opening goal. United had survived that pressure and taken the lead, without turning the advantage into a win.
