Man United injury news: who could return against Spurs on 10 October

by Alex Matthews

Manchester United are a week from the Premier League restart, and the latest Man United injury news is mixed for Michael Carrick. United host Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford on Saturday 10 October, with a 5.30pm kick-off, according to the Manchester Evening News.

Man United injury news: who could be back

The MEN lists several players as possible returns against Spurs in its latest Man United injury news. Those dates are the paper’s estimates, not club statements.

  • Carlos Baleba (ankle): played in the closed-door friendly against Lausanne-Sport at Carrington on Friday, and is yet to make his debut after joining from Brighton.
  • Amad (knock): has yet to play this season. The MEN quotes the club saying that, hopefully, he will have trained with the group by the time the squad returns.
  • Kobbie Mainoo, Marcus Rashford and Karl Darlow are also listed as possible returns.

Still out or unclear

In its Man United injury news, the MEN says Benjamin Sesko (shin), Patrick Dorgu, Noussair Mazraoui, Matthijs de Ligt, Manuel Ugarte and Tom Heaton have no return date. Dorgu left the Denmark squad after being substituted against Wales, and Mazraoui was substituted for Morocco against Lesotho. The severity of the Mazraoui problem is not known.

On De Ligt, the MEN quotes the club: “Matta is just working his way back, really. So I don’t want to, because of how it’s been, put too much of a timeframe on it.”

Spurs have their own worries

The Spurs side of the Man United injury news picture: captain Micky van de Ven went off for the Netherlands against Serbia with a hand problem. The Netherlands coach Xavi said it was not a big injury, according to The Standard, but Spurs have not confirmed anything.

None of the return dates above come from the club, and Carrick will not know who is fit until closer to kick-off on Saturday. Supporters should treat each name as a possibility rather than a confirmed return, and we will update this page when United or Spurs say more.
