The summer transfer window has closed in England, but Manchester United still have big problems with their goalkeepers.
Andre Onana, who came from Inter Milan for a big €55m fee, is now out of favour at Old Trafford.
The Cameroonian keeper made too many mistakes, and fans and pundits have not been happy.
New boss Ruben Amorim has already dropped him, showing trust in Altay Bayindir instead.
The Turkish keeper has started the first three Premier League games this season.
Reports say United even offered Onana to Trabzonspor, as the Turkish transfer window is still open.
That means the club are trying hard to move him on quickly before it shuts.
United Look at Mike Maignan
At the same time, United are planning for the future. Reports from Spain say the club want Mike Maignan, the top French goalkeeper who now plays for AC Milan.
Maignan is in the last year of his contract, and United see the chance to sign him for free as “very attractive.”
The 30-year-old is one of Europe’s best keepers, famous for his strong saves, passing skills, and calm play under pressure.
He is also captain for both Milan and the French national team.
Maignan is open to a move to the Premier League, and Old Trafford could be the perfect stage for his next step.
But Milan still want to renew his deal, and United’s interest will now put pressure on them.
Lammens Waiting in the Shadows
United also made a late signing on deadline day, bringing in young Belgian goalkeeper Senne Lammens from Royal Antwerp.
At only 23, he was not expected to be a starter right away.
The Athletic reported he was signed as one for the future, not to walk into the first team.
But with Onana struggling and Bayindir not convincing fully, Amorim may have no choice but to give Lammens his chance.
That could be a risky call, as he only had one full season as Antwerp’s first-choice keeper before moving to England.
What Next for United?
It is clear United cannot keep going with goalkeeping mistakes.
Fans want a reliable number one, and the pressure at Old Trafford is always massive.
Maignan looks like a dream signing, but it will not be easy with Milan fighting to keep him.
For now, Amorim must choose between Bayindir and Lammens while hoping the club can sort Onana’s exit.
Big decisions lie ahead, and United fans will be watching closely.
