Man United Chaos: Amorim On Brink As Three Shock Names Lined Up For Hotseat

by Alex Matthews

Manchester United may have beaten Chelsea 2-1 at Old Trafford, but the pressure on Ruben Amorim has not gone away.

Fans were happy with the win, but many still feel the Portuguese coach is walking on thin ice. Reports say the United board are already making backup plans in case they decide to sack him.

Amorim has been in charge since last season, replacing Erik ten Hag, but his results have been up and down.

So far this season United have only managed four points from their first four games before the Chelsea victory.  That form left the club in a worrying position, and critics are asking if he is the right man to lead the team forward.

INEOS chief Sir Jim Ratcliffe is also reported to have told Amorim that European qualification is a must this season.

Without that, the board could look for a change.

Three Managers On The List

According to Football Insider, United have drawn up a three-man shortlist for possible replacements. The names are:

  • Andoni Iraola (Bournemouth) is admired for his style of play and ability to do well even after losing big players in the summer. He has made Bournemouth tough to play against and is rated highly across the league.

  • Oliver Glasner (Crystal Palace) is respected for his calm approach and good results at Palace. He is also in the final year of his contract, which could make a move easier. Reports also claim he has had frustrations over broken promises in the transfer market, which could push him towards considering an exit.

  • Marco Silva (Fulham) an experienced Premier League manager who has worked at multiple clubs. He has kept Fulham stable and competitive, which has impressed many.

All three men are already working in the Premier League, which is a big plus.

United want someone who can come in and adapt quickly, without needing a long settling period.

Why Glasner Could Be Tempted

Former United scout Mick Brown believes Glasner could be open to the move. He explained that while Palace have done well, there have been issues with the board not fully backing him in the transfer market.

Without proper support, Glasner may feel he has taken Palace as far as he can.

If United come calling, with bigger backing and ambition, it could be hard for him to say no.

What Next For Amorim?

For now, United say they are still behind Amorim and hope he can turn results around. But the reality is clear, if more poor results follow, the club already has names lined up to take his place.

The win over Chelsea may have given him breathing space, but the pressure is far from gone.

Amorim needs to prove quickly that he is the man to lead United back into Europe. Otherwise, the board could move fast, with Iraola, Glasner, or Silva waiting in the wings.
