Speed Demon Incoming? Man United in Talks to Land €80M Dortmund “Road Runner” as Amorim Seeks Attacking Spark

by Alex Matthews

Manchester United are once again being linked with a big attacking move, this time for Borussia Dortmund’s lightning-fast forward Karim Adeyemi.

After a summer of big spending and major exits, United still look short in attack, and it seems manager Ruben Amorim wants to fix that in January.

United is still searching for attacking power

Despite spending over £200 million on new players this summer, United’s attack hasn’t clicked the way fans had hoped.

The Red Devils have struggled to find a consistent goal scorer, with Bryan Mbeumo being the only forward delivering regularly.

Matheus Cunha has looked bright at times and shown good control on the ball, but with only one goal across all competitions, the Brazilian hasn’t provided the cutting edge Amorim needs.

Amorim’s system relies on pace, pressing, and quick transitions, and that’s exactly what Adeyemi could bring.

The United boss wants more energy and depth in the forward line, and Adeyemi might be the perfect fit.

United open talks for Karim Adeyemi

According to Bild, Manchester United have “entered the race” for Karim Adeyemi, who could be set to leave Borussia Dortmund amid growing doubts about his future.

The report claims there has already been contact between United and super-agent Jorge Mendes, who represents Adeyemi.

Mendes has close links to Old Trafford, having helped broker Leny Yoro’s move from Lille to Manchester United last summer.

Adeyemi, who joined Dortmund from RB Salzburg, has already been directly involved in six goals in 14 matches this season.

At just 23 years old, he’s known for his explosive pace and versatility, able to play as a winger or through the middle.

His former coach, Edin Terzic, even compared him to the famous cartoon character Road Runner, thanks to his incredible acceleration.

Trouble brewing at Dortmund

However, things haven’t been smooth for Adeyemi at Dortmund lately. Reports in Germany suggest that his relationship with new Dortmund boss Niko Kovac,c has become strained.

Adeyemi’s form has dipped in recent weeks, and he has been left out of the starting eleven more often.

The tension between the player and manager has sparked rumours that a January exit could be possible, and Manchester United are ready to take advantage.

Adding to that, Dortmund are finding it hard to agree on a new contract with Adeyemi.

His current deal runs until 2027, but the player reportedly wants to include a release clause in his new agreement, something Dortmund’s hierarchy is reluctant to accept.

Even so, there are reports of an €80 million clause being discussed, which could open the door for Manchester United if negotiations between Adeyemi and Dortmund collapse.

What Adeyemi could bring to Old Trafford

Adeyemi would bring a completely different dynamic to United’s attack.

His blistering speed would make him a nightmare for defenders in the Premier League, while his ability to play in multiple positions could offer Amorim much-needed tactical flexibility.

With Mbeumo and Cunha both inconsistent in front of goal, Adeyemi’s arrival could give United another option to stretch defences and create chances for others, particularly Bruno Fernandes and Benjamin Sesko.

Under Amorim, United are trying to play quicker, more direct football. A

player like Adeyemi, who thrives on pace and movement, would fit that style perfectly. He’s the type of player who can turn defence into attack in seconds, and that’s exactly what this current United side has been missing.

A January move could be on the cards

While Dortmund will be keen to keep hold of their young forward, the situation could change quickly if Adeyemi continues to clash with his manager.

United have shown in the past that they’re willing to make big moves when the opportunity arises, and Amorim is eager to keep improving his squad.

Given Adeyemi’s age and talent, this could be a long-term signing that makes sense for both sides.

United would gain a fast, dangerous attacker for years to come, while Adeyemi would get the Premier League stage to show his full potential.

If Dortmund agree to a clause or if tensions grow stronger, a January move could be more realistic than many think.

Manchester United’s attack still needs a spark, and Karim Adeyemi might just be the one to provide it. With his speed, energy, and hunger to prove himself, he could be the missing piece in Amorim’s evolving side.

Talks with Jorge Mendes show United’s serious intent, and if the deal moves forward, Adeyemi could become one of the most exciting new arrivals at Old Trafford in 2026.

The Red Devils need goals, power, and pace, and the Dortmund “Road Runner” could deliver all
