Manchester United youngster Kai Rooney, son of club legend Wayne Rooney, has been hit with a tough injury that will keep him out for a while.
The 15-year-old had been flying high in recent weeks, even stepping up to play with older age groups, but now he finds himself stuck on the sidelines.
Kai posted a picture of himself on social media with a protective boot on his right foot and leaning on crutches.
Alongside the photo, he wrote: “Life can’t get worse” with a crying emoji.
It showed just how much the injury has hurt him, both physically and mentally.
At the moment, it is not clear what kind of injury he has suffered or how long he will be missing. But the tone of his message suggests he could be out for quite some time.

Rising Through the Ranks
Before this setback, Kai had been enjoying a fantastic run with the United youth teams.
He was even called up to the Under-19 squad, playing with lads four years older than him.
He had also scored a stunning goal for the Under-18s, smashing home a left-footed volley into the top corner.
It was looking like the perfect start to his young career, following in the footsteps of his famous dad.
But now, all that momentum has been put on pause as he begins recovery.
Echoes of His Dad
Kai usually plays through the middle, just like Wayne did in his peak years at Old Trafford.
But he’s also been used out wide, showing versatility and talent in different roles.
Fans saw glimpses of his ability in the Super Cup NI earlier this summer in Northern Ireland, where he impressed with goals and assists.
Interestingly, Wayne Rooney also shone in the same youth tournament back when he was a rising star at Everton.
Wayne, along with wife Coleen and younger sons Kit and Cass, was spotted cheering Kai on from the stands.
Wayne’s Approach
Despite his legendary status, Wayne Rooney has been very clear about the way he guides his son.
Rather than piling pressure on Kai, he has said he lets him enjoy the game on his own terms.
Speaking to BBC Sport earlier, Rooney explained: “I just let him play. He’s only 15, and it’s unfair to expect too much. He’s got good coaches at United, and for me it’s about him enjoying the game and keeping the right mindset.”
Wayne also added that Kai handles the extra attention very well, even though he gets more spotlight than many of his teammates because of the family name.
Kai has been part of the United academy since 2020, joining at the age of 11.
His progress so far has been promising, and this injury, while frustrating, is just another challenge in his young career.
With the right recovery and support from his family and coaches, there’s every chance he will return stronger.
Just like his dad, Kai has shown passion, determination, and the ability to shine on the pitch.
Fans will be hoping to see him back in action soon, continuing his exciting journey at Manchester United.
