Manchester United are ready to battle Premier League rivals Chelsea for the signing of young RB Salzburg star Kerim Alajbegovic, as reported by Sky Sports.
The 18-year-old winger has quickly become one of the brightest young names in European football and is now being watched closely by top clubs across the continent.
A young star catching everyone’s eye
Alajbegovic, who joined Red Bull Salzburg from Bayer Leverkusen last summer, has been on fire in Austria.
Even though he’s only 18, he has already made a big impact, scoring one goal and providing four assists in just 11 league games this season.
His quick feet, sharp passing, and ability to create chances have made him one of the hottest prospects around.
Born in Germany, Alajbegovic started his youth career at FC Köln before moving to Leverkusen in 2021.
There, he impressed with his pace and skill before earning his move to Salzburg.
He may be young, but he plays with the maturity of an experienced player. At 6ft 1in tall, he’s strong, confident, and ready for senior football.
The teenager represents Bosnia and Herzegovina at the international level and has already made history by becoming their youngest-ever goal scorer, finding the net in a World Cup qualifier back in September.
United’s plan for the youngster
Reports say Manchester United is keeping a very close eye on the talented attacker.
Manager Ruben Amorim is said to be a fan of players who can move between positions, and Alajbegovic fits that style perfectly.
He can play as a number ten behind the striker or out wide on the wings, which makes him a flexible option for United’s system.
Sky Sports reporter Ben Heckner revealed that United is one of three clubs monitoring Alajbegovic, alongside Chelsea and FC Porto.
Chelsea are also said to be keen as they continues to build a team full of young talent.
However, United may hold a small advantage in the race. Their new recruitment chief, Christopher Vivel, previously worked for the Red Bull football group, including Salzburg and Leipzig.
His strong connections could help United move faster and secure a deal before Chelsea does.
Battle heating up
Both United and Chelsea see Alajbegovic as a future star who could light up the Premier League for years to come.
With his pace, technique, and vision, he’s got everything needed to succeed at the top level.
An offer is yet to be made, but sources suggest the race is heating up fast and United don’t want to miss their chance to grab one of Europe’s brightest young players.
