Fabrizio Romano Drops Bombshell on Chelsea’s Patience with £40m Garnacho

by Alex Matthews

Alejandro Garnacho’s life at Chelsea has not started easy. The £40 million signing from Manchester United joined late in the summer window, and after a few games, fans are still waiting to see the best of him.

The Argentine winger has played three matches in different competitions but is yet to score or make an assist.

A Slow Beginning for the Young Star

Garnacho has already featured in the Premier League, Champions League, and Carabao Cup, but results in those games have been far from perfect for Chelsea.

There was a 2-2 draw against Brentford, a 3-1 defeat to Bayern Munich, and a close 2-1 win over Lincoln.

After that, Chelsea lost 2-1 to Manchester United at Old Trafford and 3-1 at home to Brighton. Garnacho did not even get on the pitch in those two matches. For a £40m signing, that has made many fans ask questions.

But inside the club, the feeling is different. Chelsea are calm and believe the winger will soon show his talent.

Romano Explains Chelsea’s Position

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has shared the view from Stamford Bridge. Speaking on his Here We Go Podcast, he said Chelsea believe Garnacho simply needs more time.

The Argentine was part of the so-called “bomb squad” at Manchester United during the summer, where players like Antony, Rashford, and Sancho were also frozen out.

That meant Garnacho missed pre-season and came into Chelsea short of fitness and confidence.

Romano explained that Chelsea see this as a work in progress. They want Garnacho to get his sharpness back slowly rather than throw him in too fast.

Maresca’s Demands Are Clear

Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca is known for his strict style. He does not give out game time just because a player has a big price tag.

Maresca has already sent Garnacho a warning after the Brentford draw.

In that game, Garnacho lost his man at the back post, allowing Fabio Carvalho to score a 93rd-minute equaliser. Maresca said the same mistake happened twice in minutes, and this showed the winger must improve his defensive duties.

The Chelsea boss has made it clear—if Garnacho wants minutes, he must work harder without the ball, not only in attack.

What Next for Garnacho?

For now, Chelsea are staying patient. Fans may have to wait longer to see why £40m was spent, but the club and manager believe the talent is there.

The question is whether Garnacho can adapt fast enough to win a regular spot. If he improves his defensive work and gets fit, he has the skills to shine. But until then, Maresca will not hand him easy minutes.

Chelsea remain calm, but pressure is rising. Supporters will want to see their new man deliver soon.
