Chelsea are once again making big moves in the transfer market, with reports now saying they have ‘agreed’ a swap deal with Real Madrid that could see Enzo Fernandez leave Stamford Bridge.
In exchange, the Blues are looking to bring in Uruguayan star midfielder Federico Valverde, a move that would also hit Manchester United hard.
The Blues already spent huge money in the summer window, adding new names to Enzo Maresca’s squad. But results so far have not been good, with Chelsea only picking up eight points from their first six Premier League games.
Fans have been frustrated, and now the club’s owners appear ready to shake things up again.
Enzo Fernandez To Madrid, Valverde To Chelsea?
According to reports in Spain, Chelsea and Real Madrid have agreed a deal that would swap Enzo Fernandez for Federico Valverde.
Fernandez, who cost Chelsea a record £106.8m from Benfica back in January 2023, has had a mixed spell in west London.
The Argentine helped the club win the Club World Cup over the summer, but he has struggled to fully shine in the Premier League. Now, it looks like Chelsea might be ready to let him go and bring in Valverde instead.

Valverde is seen as one of Real Madrid’s most important players. He has been a key figure for years, offering energy, creativity, and leadership.
Reports say Madrid value him so highly that he could even take the captain’s armband in the future.
Valverde Speaks On Future
Valverde recently spoke out about his situation in Madrid, after rumours claimed he had clashed with new manager Xabi Alonso.
The 26-year-old denied he had refused to play at right-back, saying he has always given “everything and more” for Madrid.
He wrote on social media: “I’ve played through injuries, I’ve never complained, and I’ll play wherever the team needs me. I have a good relationship with the coach and I am very happy at Real Madrid.”
This message suggests Valverde has no plans to leave Madrid anytime soon, despite Chelsea’s interest.
Spanish reports also confirm that Madrid do not want to sell him under any circumstances.
Blow For Man Utd
The news is also a big blow for Manchester United. Reports earlier this month suggested United were preparing an €80m (£70m) offer for Valverde in January. Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS wanted him to strengthen their midfield, but Chelsea’s move may now ruin those plans.
For now, it seems Chelsea are keen to push hard, but the final decision will rest with Real Madrid and Valverde himself. With Madrid unwilling to sell, Chelsea’s dream swap might prove very difficult to pull off.
Still, one thing is clear, Chelsea’s owners are ready to make bold moves in the transfer market, no matter the cost.
