£38m Man United Rock Finally Proves His Class With Monster Display Against Chelsea

by Alex Matthews

Manchester United have had an up and down start to the season, but one player is starting to show he can be the rock at the back.

Dutch defender Matthijs de Ligt put in a huge display as United beat Chelsea 2-1 at Old Trafford in a fiery Premier League clash.

The Red Devils had lost the Manchester derby before this game and manager Ruben Amorim asked his players to show more fight.

United did just that, with Bruno Fernandes and Casemiro scoring the goals that gave them three big points.

ven when Casemiro was sent off in the first half, United stayed strong, and it was De Ligt who led the way.

De Ligt Steps Up Against Chelsea

Signed from Bayern Munich for £38 million last summer, De Ligt is now showing why United spent big money on him.

He has become undroppable in Amorim’s line-up and is proving himself in the three-man defence system.

Against Chelsea he won tackles, made clearances, and stopped dangerous attacks.

Fans online praised him, and respected journalist Henry Winter also said the defender is finally showing his Ajax quality and leadership.

At only 26 years old, De Ligt is already looking like one of the leaders of this United team.

He may not be in the official leadership group, but on the pitch he is setting the tone with his calm defending and physical presence.

A Key Player For United’s Future

De Ligt has now moved ahead of Harry Maguire in the pecking order, and his ability to play in different positions at the back makes him even more valuable.

Amorim needs characters who can perform in the big games, and De Ligt showed against Chelsea that he fits the bill.

United supporters have been calling for more consistency from their team, and De Ligt looks like a player who can deliver that.

His strong defending gives confidence to the rest of the side, and he is now becoming a mainstay in the squad.

With United entering a busy part of the season, Amorim will rely heavily on De Ligt to keep the defence solid.

If he continues to improve, he could be one of the most important players for United in the years to come.

For now, the Red Devils will just be happy to see their £38m signing finally hitting top form and helping the team grind out wins in tough matches.
