Manchester United were held to a 2-2 draw by Nottingham Forest at the City Ground in a tense Premier League clash that brought an end to their winning streak.
Rúben Amorim’s side looked set for another victory after a strong first half, but defensive lapses in the second period cost them dearly.
Despite the result, the Red Devils showed spirit, and several players impressed, most notably Casemiro, who once again proved his worth in midfield.
Casemiro leads by example as United start strong
Manchester United started the game full of confidence after three straight wins in the league.
Amorim named an unchanged side for the first time this season, hoping to build on the team’s growing momentum.
The early stages saw plenty of energy from both sides. Benjamin Šeško and Dan Ndoye both had early chances to put United ahead, but their efforts went wide. However, it was the veteran Casemiro who broke the deadlock.
The Brazilian midfielder rose highest to head home from a Bruno Fernandes corner, giving United a deserved 1-0 lead.
The goal lifted the team, and United dominated possession for much of the first half. Fernandes and Amad Diallo both came close to doubling the advantage, but Forest’s goalkeeper held firm to keep his side in the contest.
Forest fight back as United’s defence wobbles
After the break, Nottingham Forest came out stronger and immediately looked more dangerous going forward.
Their persistence paid off when Morgan Gibbs-White found the back of the net with a smart header after a fine cross from Ryan Yates.
That goal gave Forest belief, and they started to push higher up the pitch. Moments later, poor defending from United allowed Nicolo Savona to sneak in and score from close range, putting the home side 2-1 ahead.
It was a tough spell for Amorim’s men, with full-back Diogo Dalot struggling to deal with Forest’s pace down the flanks.
Leny Yoro and Matthijs de Ligt looked solid for most of the game, but a lapse in concentration cost them the second goal.
Amorim looked frustrated on the sidelines as his team’s earlier control began to slip away.
Diallo saves the day with a stunning strike
As the match moved into its final stages, United pushed hard for an equaliser. Fernandes rattled the post with a fierce low shot, showing how close the Red Devils were to pulling level.
Then came the moment of magic. Amad Diallo, who has been growing in confidence under Amorim, smashed home a brilliant volley from the edge of the box to make it 2-2.

The Ivorian winger’s goal brought United back to life and silenced the Forest fans inside the City Ground.
The Red Devils continued to search for a winner, with Mbeumo and Cunha linking well in attack, but Forest held on until the final whistle.

Amorim’s verdict and what’s next
The 2-2 result means Manchester United extends their unbeaten run to four games but misses the chance to climb higher in the Premier League table.
Amorim will be pleased with his team’s attacking intent but concerned by the defensive lapses that continue to haunt them.
Next up, United face Tottenham away, a crucial test for Amorim’s growing project. Fans will be eager to see if the Red Devils can tighten up at the back and turn draws into wins.
Casemiro’s leadership, Diallo’s magic, and Amorim’s tactical vision continue to give hope that Manchester United is slowly rebuilding its identity.
But if they want to challenge for a top-four spot, consistency and concentration must improve, especially away from home.
