Manchester United could get a big boost this weekend as forward Matheus Cunha is pushing to make his return for the huge clash with Chelsea on Saturday.
The 26-year-old Brazilian has been out since he picked up a hamstring injury during United’s 3-2 win over Burnley last month.
He was asked to lead the line that day but sadly had to go off early in the first half.
Now, according to journalist Ben Jacobs, Cunha has been training hard with a personal coach and is telling people he wants to be ready for the Chelsea game.
Jacobs said on The United Stand that Cunha feels he will be fit in time, though manager Ruben Amorim will have the final say.
Fans are buzzing about the news because Cunha has already shown signs of what he can bring, even though he has not yet scored in his first four games for the club.
Why Cunha Matters for United
Cunha may not have goals yet, but his game is about more than scoring.
He brings direct runs, energy and fearlessness in attack. He is confident with the ball at his feet and doesn’t shy away from pressure.
Amorim sees him as an important piece in United’s forward line.
There’s also a growing link between Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo, who usually plays on the right side of the attack.
If both start along with Benjamin Sesko up front, it could make a strong front three that will test Chelsea’s defence.

Cunha also has history on his side. Against Chelsea in the Premier League, he has scored four goals and added an assist in just five games.
That kind of record makes him a big threat, and Chelsea defenders will know he can hurt them.
Pressure on Amorim
United’s last game showed why fans want Cunha back. Against Manchester City, Amad Diallo came in but struggled to make much impact.
Without Cunha, United’s attack looked weaker and lacked the edge needed in big matches.
That’s why many fans now feel Amorim must take the risk. Even if Cunha is only 80-90% fit, they believe he should at least play some part from the bench.
His presence alone could lift the team and the supporters at Old Trafford.
But Amorim has a tough call to make. If he plays it safe and leaves Cunha out, and Chelsea win, questions will be asked about his decision.
If he brings Cunha in and the striker makes a difference, it could be a turning point in United’s season.
Big Decision Ahead
All eyes will now be on Amorim when the team sheet comes out on Saturday.
Cunha is desperate to return, the fans are desperate to see him, and Chelsea will not want to face him.
Whether from the start or the bench, his comeback could be the game-changer United need.
