Manchester United are close to finishing one of the biggest transfers of this summer, as they have agreed a £71 million deal to sign Brentford’s star attacker Bryan Mbeumo.
After weeks of talks and multiple bids, the Old Trafford club have finally reached an agreement with the Bees, and the move is expected to be completed in the coming days.
The deal includes £65 million upfront and £6 million in add-ons, with Mbeumo set to sign a contract worth £150,000 a week, which will earn him £39 million over the next five years.
A medical has been scheduled for this weekend, and fans are already buzzing with excitement about the signing.
A New Attack for Manchester United
New manager Ruben Amorim is building a fresh attacking line at Old Trafford, and Mbeumo is his second major signing after Matheus Cunha.
Both players were outstanding last season in the Premier League, with Cunha contributing to 21 goals and Mbeumo adding 28 goals.
Together, that’s 49 goal contributions which is more than United’s entire team managed last season, with only 44 league goals.
Amorim’s tactical system of 3-4-2-1 is designed to bring the best out of attacking midfielders and wide forwards.
It is expected that Mbeumo will take the right attacking midfield (RCAM) position, while Cunha will slot into the left side (LCAM).
This could finally give United the creativity and finishing power they have been missing.
Next Step: A Proper No.9
While Mbeumo and Cunha are exciting signings, United still need a clinical striker to complete the front line.
Last season, Rasmus Højlund and Joshua Zirkzee failed to deliver consistently, and Amorim is now believed to be pushing for a reliable No.9.
The club is already looking at possible targets, but no deal is close yet.
With Mbeumo set to become a Red Devil, fans are hopeful that United’s attack will look sharp and dangerous again.
The mix of pace, power, and creativity between Mbeumo and Cunha could be the key to unlocking defences in the upcoming Premier League season.
