Fabrizio Romano: Xavi Ready To Take Over Man United Immediately As Pressure Mounts On Amorim

by Alex Matthews

Ruben Amorim’s time at Manchester United is not going well. The Portuguese boss came in last November to replace Erik ten Hag, but results have not improved much.

United fans were hoping for a new direction, but so far the team looks the same, maybe even worse.

United have played six Premier League games this season, winning just two and losing three. The worst of them was the 3-1 loss to Brentford at Old Trafford at the weekend.

The defeat has made fans angry, and many are now calling for Amorim to be sacked.

Last year, Amorim’s side finished only 15th in the Premier League and also lost the Europa League final to Tottenham.

This season has started badly too, with United already sitting 14th in the table and even going out of the EFL Cup to League Two side Grimsby Town. For a club the size of Manchester United, this is embarrassing.

The Numbers Don’t Lie

Amorim’s record at United is poor. He has only 18 wins from 49 games, with a win rate of just 36.7%.

He has already lost 19 matches in charge. This is a big drop compared to his time at Sporting Lisbon, where he won 164 games from 231, giving him a win rate of over 70%.

At Sporting he was seen as a young, exciting coach. But at United he has failed to bring the same success. Right now, his future at the club looks very shaky.

Xavi Wants The Job

While Amorim struggles, another big name has made it clear he wants the United job. Former Barcelona boss Xavi Hernandez is ready to take charge at Old Trafford.

According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, Xavi is watching the Premier League closely and would “go immediately” if United offered him the role, even without European football.

Xavi had a solid record at Barcelona, winning 89 of his 142 matches in charge. He also lifted the La Liga title and the Spanish Super Cup.

Known for his 4-3-3 formation and focus on young players, many believe his style could suit United’s squad.

INEOS, led by Sir Jim Ratcliffe, are under pressure to make a decision. Reports suggest Gareth Southgate is also on their list if Amorim is sacked. But with Xavi openly saying he wants the job, fans may begin to push for the Spaniard to come in.

For now, Amorim has to try and save his job by winning matches.

But if results don’t improve quickly, Manchester United might soon see a new man in the dugout and Xavi could be the one walking into Old Trafford.
