Exclusive: Man Utd Boss Rúben Amorim Hails Teen Sensation as ‘Next Rio Ferdinand’ After Stunning Rise

by Alex Matthews

Manchester United fans have seen many ups and downs in the last few years.

At one point, there was a photo that made fans believe better days were coming.

In February 2024, a big picture was shown at the Stretford End.

It had Alejandro Garnacho, Kobbie Mainoo and Rasmus Hojlund, three young stars full of hope for the future.

That moment was meant to start a new era. But things have not gone as planned. Now there are big questions about all three players.

Garnacho and Hojlund Facing Uncertain Future

Chelsea want to sign Garnacho, and it looks like he may not play for United again.

This is a big blow for fans who saw him as one of the brightest young players in the squad.

Hojlund, on the other hand, wants to stay.

But United have spent big money this summer on new forwards, Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbuemo and Benjamin Sesko and they also have Joshua Zirkzee.

This means Hojlund may not get much game time. AC Milan are showing interest in the Danish striker.

Many supporters think it’s unfair because last season he worked hard and scored important goals, even though the team struggled to finish chances.

Mainoo Still Has to Prove Himself

Kobbie Mainoo had a fast rise to the first team and even played for England in the Euros.

But last season, his form slowed down. There were even rumours that United could sell him to help with PSR rules, but Garnacho’s possible sale means he might stay for now.

Manager Rúben Amorim says Mainoo has big talent, but he must play faster and with more energy.

United’s midfield is now crowded with Bruno Fernandes, Cunha, Mbuemo, Amad and Mason Mount.

Mainoo can play deeper in midfield, but Amorim thinks he is better further forward.

Yoro Impressing Like a Young Rio Ferdinand

One bright story is Leny Yoro. The 19-year-old defender joined from Lille for £52 million last summer.

Amorim is very impressed and thinks Yoro could become the “next Rio Ferdinand.” His calm play under pressure has already won fans over.

Yoro is expected to start against Arsenal alongside Matthijs de Ligt.

With Varane and Lindelof gone, and Maguire, Shaw, and Martinez fighting for places, Yoro’s future looks strong.

New Talent on the Rise

Another young name to watch is Bendito Mantato. The 17-year-old left wing-back scored nine goals for the U18s last season and has already trained with the first team.

He could get chances in Cup games this season.

United may be going through big changes, but with talents like Yoro and Mantato, there is still hope for the future at Old Trafford.
